"This is completely unjustified! Unorthodox! Unsatisfactory!" Bane's voice rippled through the small tent that ringmaster Elly was stationed in. She was making attempts at relaxing for a few spare moments before returning to her duties of ordering around her staff and hearing all the sniffles and whines from the other contestants. Not to mention she also wished to slip out and take a seat to watch the fights themselves - even a ringmaster deserved to have some appropriate entertainment.

Chordata took one last swig of her purified spring water. She let out a long sigh before tossing the empty bottle on the floor. The local flora, Yerdua the janitor, would clean it up for her eventually. She had done what was told of her - the first rule fulfilled. Now all she had to do was patiently wait for whatever resulted. Though she still hadn't a single idea what it would prove. Maybe I should have listened a bit better. Oh well, she shrugged. She would find her answer soon enough.

Chordata walked side-by-side with the handsome dingo while the rainbow-maned canine strode casually behind them, his cyan, beaded chains dragging along the dirt floor. None of them said a word, with the exception of Chordata's spontaneous giggling. They entered the requested tent and saw it had already been filled with fellow competitors. All looked exhausted, though many attempted to hide their growing weaknesses.

Dedicated to those lost on September 11th, 2001, and to the families and friends who still suffer from their loss. This event is one of many people often try to forget. The heartbreak and terror American citizens (and even those of other countries) experienced is something that hurts to remember, but one thing should never be erased, and that is the memory of those involved and the effects they had on us as a nation, and as a world.
