WARNING: This looks better on light monitored computers.

Huzzah! :iconfinallyplz:

Sorry I'm a tad bit late on this one (two days) but hey, it's still once a week! So no complaining. >:[ hurhur.

And.. and... could it be? :ohnoes: *le gasp*

Not going to comment too much on this one. To say the least I am extremely happy at the results, but I am still not satisfied with some of my BG work and perspectives (again). Most likely will touch it up some. I'm hoping my vehicles have gotten at least a tad bit better since last time?

Short lady is SHORT. Or is the big limo just BIG? Or both? Oh-hoho yees.
And yes, the limo doesn't have wheels. Rather it has two large "track ball" like things. I assume it would be hard to handle, but parallel parking would be a snap!

:bulletpurple: Least Favorite panel: last (boo-hoo stairs fail! D': )

:bulletred:Personal Crits (ones I'd prefer you not mention):
-The light source highlights. Right when I completed I noticed I probably should have added some cyan glows on all the objects/people/etc to reflect the color. Darn! Will have to get to that~

-The Spirit Ultimate statue is not supposed to be centered. There is something else in front of it (the back here) that I'll eventually show whenever I go back and redo/add in some pages around the current page 12.

Constructive Criticism, pointing out flaws, and spelling/grammatical help is DEFINITELY helpful!

Okie-dokie, here it goes. :XD:

This page is very ambitious! Nice job on that dragon statue. =D The cast lighting on the rest of the statue from the glowing part on top looks pretty good! The kind of atmosphere you're going for is pretty spiffy, too. :XD: And the sky came out really well, the stars look great. ^^

This is a kind of difficult page for me to critique, because, um... I can barely see it. .-. True, I am using a laptop (college student :XD:) but... It's not a good thing that you can only see it with an intensely backlit screen anyway... Chances are it's not going to fare well in print like this either (not necessarily even for comic print, but if you ever wanted to put this in an art portfolio of some sort).

In spite of that even, it's... very black. Too black. And yes, black would be the natural color assumption in a dark place, but the trouble is, 'dark' doesn't really mean 'black'. 'Specially not in art. It means... well, dark. In truth, 'black' isn't a color we see a lot. Unless you're somewhere where literally no light is getting to you, black doesn't really exist. There's just relative darkness. At night, even with no artificial lights, we have things like moonlight and starlight, and I'm sure Ambivia has a crapload of reflective lighting from that planet nearby...

Usually, to make things look like night, you would use much less of a color range. This typically means washing foreground elements in dark blue, or sometimes purple. (Real black and gray is sometimes used, but it can really deaden the picture, so unless that's what you're going for I don't recommend it.) I can't find any good photo refs (photos need good lighting, go figure :'D ) but for this I definitely suggest looking at some paintings for reference.

(While I'm on this subject, I've been meaning to bring up the fact that on all pages you have that 'WARNING: This looks better on light monitored computers'. Aside from the obvious, why do you leave that on for every page? There isn't any reason why it shouldn't like fine on every monitor...)

There are a few issues with where the lighting is cast... For example, the car in panel 3. The lighting just kind of starts and ends abruptly. Though that's sort of what is going on in the 'sphere' shading model, it that's not what would happen with something shaped like that car is. You wouldn't shade a cube the way you would shade a sphere, would you?

The cube and the car have flat planes. Flat planes have lighting pretty evenly disturbed over the top of them... For example, the hood of the car is fairly flat and the light is above it, so the light should fall over the whole dashboard, unless there's something stopping it. Light travels in straights lines... it never stops in a place abruptly, unless something is blocking it between the 'landing' and the source.

Oh, and there's the right headlight on the car in the same panel... For some reason, the light is there, but it's not relating to anything, and the light just abruptly stops. Yes, light travels in a straight line, but it also reflects. I see what you're going for with the beams of the headlights, but that's not really how it works... chances are the light is reflecting off of something else in the area (anything. Even particles in the air) and some of it is bound to reach the front of the car a bit.

Lastly, there's reflective surfaces. Things like the water in the fountain, and the metal on the car are going to be highly reflective, and catch bits of whatever lighting is in the area, provided a straight line could reach them from the source.

Yeah. Lighting... it's a lot to think about. :XD: Knowing your lighting does wonders for atmosphere though.

Again, very ambitious page, I'm pretty impressed. =D A lot people would probably just bs the whole thing. With some tweaking this could be quite a fantastic page. =)

Thank you thank you! I love it when you spend the time to critique my pages like this! :D

Oh goodness do I agree with you on that. I work on a very dark monitor and this page is, like you said, black. It wasn't this black originally but I quickly changed it because I took a look on my seperate computer laptop (with a lighter monitor) and the backgrounds looked absolutely horrible. I don't mean "Yeah that's kinda bad" I mean HORRIBLE. I was embarrassed it was so terrible! :XD:

Here's what it first looked like: [link]
Though I changed a couple things non-lighting wise (removed the !!! things and changed the color of the headlights) but yeah, still original lighting otherwise.

(Actually I normally say "Warning: This looks better on dark monitors." This was the only page I said light instead of dark because of the previously explained. I put it there for a similar reason that people put "Best viewed on Firefox" things. Just to say that it looks its best on dark monitors rather than light, because it does a major difference, actually. Shading especially (I have such trouble getting them to look good on light monitors that it drives me nuts!) Though I'm thinking of only using it on dark pages because they look fine on both on normal shading.)

Ah, thank you for explaining the car thing. I was thinking it looked awkward but I couldn't catch my common sense to figure out just what that was.

I'm a bit confused on what you mean by the headlights though. But then again, maybe I'm getting contradicting advice mixed up. Back on page 10 when I drew my first car there I put a reflection of light on the front of the car and someone told me "headlights don't do that. The light goes straight forward and shouldn't put any shine on the car itself" Sooo yeah. Confuzzled a bit there. ^^;

Lighting is definitely important! It can really make or break the atmosphere! :D

Ahh, I actually like the original lighting a bit better. Much easier to see. D=

Thing with the monitor bit that I don't like is -- though this might just be me -- that I, and perhaps most others, can't really go to a different monitor to view the pages. Thing with FireFox is many computers have more than one browser, but when you say it looks better on another monitor... many people don't have several computers to view this from, and also, it would be a lot of work to computer hop just to view certain pages. There's also what really defines if a monitor is dark or light, so it may come off as like... an excuse almost? But I don't know. Like I said, this might just be me. I feel like it really won't make much of a difference if you just stop saying that altogether.

Oy, yeah, sorry, that would be confusing. ^^;; I don't think I said that as well as I could have. Headlights don't really 'reflect' off the car like a light pointing at the car would, but the front of the car wouldn't be in total darkness, you know? You'd be able to see it a little bit. Like this: [link]

You're very welcome! ^^

I think that the first and second panels in this page look really good; professional. xD I can see how you may not like the last panel; it does look slightly off on the stairs. However, Jenelle's expression makes me laugh because she doesn't seem the kind of person to give THAT particular look. xD But overall I give a good 4.99999999999999999999 stars. xD (out of 5)

Why does Jenelle's nose in panel 7, ummm...stick out?
I have never seen it that round. It just doesn't seem right.

But it seems so ROUND, don't you think?
The way you added the shadow around her nose makes it seem really round.
And how do the cameras work? How can they float?
