Now that October is over, I can post up my big ol' dump of Inktobers! My first Inktober!
I did two series: hares and Sly Cooper. Why? Well, why not?
All of these were done with ballpoint pen in a sketchbook then cleaned up (and sometimes colored) in Clip Studio.
Inktober 2017: HARE SERIES
I don't know exactly why I decided to do a Sly Cooper series. I guess because it gave me an excuse to get in ties with the community and explore a little bit about this series that I've reconnected with.
I think, too, it's because I had a sort of personal epiphany. For the longest time, sometime after I left the Invader Zim fandom in 2008/9 or so, I always had this odd hatred for fan artists or people who drew fan art too much. I basically believed that if you did fan art for attention or chose it over original content, that you were wasting potential. Somehow, being a fan artist made you a lesser artist. I think a lot of this was intensified by my ex-friend and how much I hated her and her obsession with getting popular off fan art. But this year, after reconnecting with my childhood through these Sly games, I kinda realized that was really silly of me to think that way. While I do wish original content got more credit than it gets, there's really nothing wrong with fan art or indulging in it. Being a fangirl/boy is not some silly cardinal sin like I once thought. It's just a way to have fun, to improve as an artist, and to make friends. And there's really nothing wrong with that.
So with that in mind, I decided to just do what I haven't done in practically a decade: indulge a little and be a fangirl. So that I did!
I enjoy a lot of things and hate some others. You can probably assume the ones with Arpeggio were my personal favorites. Honestly, I could have drawn the entire series on just him buuuut I resisted.
I skipped a few days because I couldn't come up with any ideas for the prompts. But 27/31 ain't too bad!
