•• Submissions Rules and Guidelines ••

Greetings everyone! Just a quick update to let you all know that the FanComics folder reached capacity and a new FanComics folder has been opened. I have sent invites out to any deviations in the message center that were unable to be accepted, but if you had tried to submit to it and it did not let you, try again now with the new folder! The old one has been marked :Archived: and is closed for submissions.

Also another friendly reminder that, due to Eclipse, we are still a touch slow keeping up with/navigating the new Group's back-end so accepting submissions might be slightly slower than usual. With future updates on the way, apparently, it will be an interesting situation to deal with.

Otherwise, keep submitting! If anyone has questions, let us know!

I cleverly waited like 2 whole days before posting this in hopes it would not fall into the mountainous sea of journals LOL

So, yes, Eclipse. I'll save my final opinions on it for the final version, hoping they can get the kinks out by then. If they can keep or replace Sta.sh Writer somehow and make Groups actually accessible I'll be content. I've been on dA for 13 years and been through massive changes before, this will be no different.

That said, if you ARE planning to jump ship or else not stay as active here, here are ALL of my Socials:
linktr.ee/alfafilly

Excluding here, I am MOST active on Twitter and FurAffinity.
If you primarily follow me for The Selection and don't want to miss updates, I recommend Twitter, because I try to post there when I update! BUT ALSO, and I did not plan to release this until it was 100% complete, I have a website for TS now! So if you wanna keep up with it there instead, it's operational! It's also the best choice for binging.

More details on that when I make a formal post (but it was designed by Ayemae ;) )

In Labyrinth news, we will sadly not be moving on to Round 5, and Round 4 is now deemed non-canon! But despite stating that it was sad in the first sentence, there is NO NEED to be sad! Because in true canon NO ONE DIED which means Spectator Entry time baaybeee!

We will be closing out Forte and Kinsey's Labyrinth story with a round-length SE that will be completed sometime in the next 3-4 months. It will wrap everything up in a lovely bow~ Conveniently, all the plot points we had planned on using had we passed were able to be used in the SE so. That worked out! So in the mean time, if you read our entries and wanna see how it ends, PLEASE read our opponent's entry which is the true canon of Round 4, and the jumping off point leading into the SE! (Plus it's really good and FUNNY AF)
Labyrinth OCT round 4 cover by theYTfox

After the SE is complete, some shitposts and one-offs aside, I'm going to basically be starting over with Forte's story in the rozenich homeworld universe. For years I've wanted to write mini comics and stories with Linda, Harlie, Picard n co. in their rozenich forms, not unlike how old-watchers will recall the stories with them pre-Rozenich. Now, thanks to Labyrinth, we've gotten enough worldbuilding set up that we can make it a reality! It won't have a single ongoing story, just shorts and randomness taking place in the universe. I'll be starting it off with Forte's biography, to detail out things I wasn't able to in Labyrinth. I'm very excited for that!

Forte is going to be getting a facelift as well design and personality-wise. Working through the OCT has brought up new ideas that I'd rather take his character to. So if you see a Forte 2.0 ref pop up in the near future, don't be surprised or confused. That will be his "main canon" self and not Labyrinth!Forte. It's gonna be MMMM good shit. I'm very happy Labyrinth was able to make him into a character I wanted to keep instead of just the goofy bootleg Arpeggio he originally was LMAO

Lastly, StupidShepherd and I just finished moving house! We've been extremely tired getting it all done, but it's finally complete. That explains why I may not have been super active or as lively as I typically am. Now that everything has (mostly) calmed down, I will be returning to doing streams and the like! So keep an eye out~

Remember, stay safe and wash yo nasty hands!

Due to several people suggesting it over the last months, I am considering adding a couple commission-specific tiers to my Patreon!

My Patreon is focused on The Selection as a tip jar of sorts in order to help me produce pages consistently, with the soonest goal being to hire a flatter to increase output (even if people have been willing to volunteer in the past, I absolutely prefer to compensate them!) but unfortunately due to COVID-19 a few patrons have had to pull out, which is more than understandable! I have paused billing for this month in order to lighten the load for everyone, because I appreciate them immensely for your/their support!

Because making a second Patreon is not an option for me due to it honestly just be convoluted, I honestly do not mind adding in some non-comic-related tiers to it, so long as you don't mind being spammed with comic shenanigans throughout the month as well! Ultimately the funds from this will solely go back into the comic, primarily to hire a flatter to make more pages quicker.

Which means more sweet sweet sparkle alien goodness.

I'm going to be starting off small with only 2 tiers, 1 slot per tier: one slot for a colored fullbody and one slot for a colored fullbody with background or 2 busts. I have not decided price point yet, though it might be a smidge higher than my current prices solely because it would be a guaranteed slot every month off-stream. Which means if I'm unable to do a stream that month, it won't matter, you'll still be guaranteed a piece (I will likely make those tiers exempt from my Patreon-priority stream raffles, although you could still apply for regular raffle slots!). If things work out in the future, I may add more slots to each tier, but I do not want it to overshadow my time to work on the comic as that is the priority.

So let me know what you think of this idea! If I implement it, I will publish them starting in April sometime.
Here is my patreon for those interested:

Stay safe and well everyone!!

It's time to release the winners of my The Selection Anniversary contest!! Sorry it took a bit, but I wanted to make sure I could sit down and write up a proper post about it.

First things first, I want to thank everyone who entered something! I loved everyone's entries, they were absolutely wonderful, and I did not expect to get as many as we did! It was a blast seeing what everyone came up with! It also made it much more difficult to pick winners! So I brought in four other people (who chose to remain anonymous) to help me judge! When judging, we focused primarily on effort and creativity, with secondary factors being accuracy to the source material (or at least connections to it), first-reaction impact, and emotional or humorous weight. So without further ado, here are the winners!

 Honorable Mention

This category was added due to consistent judge responses. The judges loved the colors and mood of this image, and how seamlessly the canon characters were incorporated with the OCs.
So congrats to !

 Third Place

It's evident this video took a LOT of effort, time, and patience to put together. The blend of canonical art sourced from the comic (and other places) and exclusive created images was super creative. Plus, it's just freakin' funny!
Congrats to

 Second Place

The concept of this image is so simple but evokes a heck of a lot of emotion and plot. The fact the cast of characters from the comic were simplified into tiny sentimental objects is both extremely creative and honestly just beautiful. The image itself is gorgeous too.
So congrats to !

 First Place

This image was pretty much consistently loved by every judge. It's hilarious, it's creative, and it's well executed. The fact it's viewed through the vision of Tanner and his ridiculous conspiracy theories (especially towards Federico) make it just all the more amusing and creative. Also I still love the tail suits sssh.
Congrats to !!

Please note me or DM me for your prizes! I will reach out in a week or so if I haven't heard from you! Your prizes are listed in the original contest submission (or in the first comment down below!) but we can discuss details individually.

In the mean time, please check out all the other entries! They were just so awesome and I wish I would pick everyone as a winner! Thank you again for entering, and thank you to my judges for helping me choose! Everyone is amazing, and I appreciate all your support over the last 10+ years. So let's look forward to 10 more! Heart

PLUS so much more! Check every individual entry out here!

Quick update for everyone cause it's been a few!

Long story short, my brain is kinda in a constant state of frazzlement due to being so busy with just. Life?

I work full-time now-a-days offline. Not... really in the plan but, hey. We are extremely short staffed atm due to a mass of people quitting (including new hires who just... decide to stop showing up...) so my hours have skyrocketed. Hey. Here's a tip? If you wanna quit a job, unless they are absolutely horrible to you or your health is at stake (in which case, RUN), can you like... just put in a 2 weeks notice and ACTUALLY SHOW UP for those shifts? When you don't, you make everyone else pick up your slack and it's, uh, garbage lol Why does this keep happening.

I enjoy my job a lot! I mean, every job has its complaints, but overall I'm very lucky I enjoy going into work every day and being challenged and fulfilled. But, yeah. It's exhausting. Especially now, with the holiday season. I can't imagine my hours will be any better until January at the earliest. Fingers crossed, I can change my availability up next year after the holiday season cools down and I can return to part time there and pick back up consistent commission work and such here! I love drawing for others when I actually have the time to breathe.

I'm still doing art stuff to keep me sane, obviously, but it's very casual and slow going. I'm no longer forcing myself to keep to schedules because I just mentally can't do it anymore. TS is pretty much my only scheduled thing now outside of Labyrinth's deadlines, and I'm managing, even if I'm not ahead in my buffer by any means. Buffers will come later. I just can't do more than I am currently.

Hand's hurting me again also lmao Well, not consistently. It kinda wavers? Some days it's there, some days it's gone. It's weird. I still need to go back to the doctor about it but lmao who has the time AMIRITE.

Despite all this, I'm actually doing okay. Just tired.

So, yeah! If I'm ever hard to reach, sound weird, or take 1000 years to get back to you, no worries! I'm just doing that thing called life.

Quick reminders:

TS contest is still live! I have extended the deadline to January 2020 because I don't wanna think about ending it too soon if I'm as tired as I am LOL Gonna just go ahead and extend it waaaay early so we all have less headache to deal with!

The Selection Anniversary CONTEST [OVER!!]UPDATE 1/20: All done!! Thank you everyone for entering!! I will take about a week or so to judge then reveal results after! Meanwhile lookit the finished entries so far [HERE!]
The Selection recently celebrated it's 10th uhh I mean 11th birthday, and is now going on 12! So much has happened since it was crafted, and sometimes it's hard to comprehend. It feels like it was so long ago, while at the same time seems so recent. I have learned a lot from it since its fruition, and while it's a shame it took me a decade to finally buckle down and get serious about it, I have no regrets. TS has evolved to become a better story now than it ever was when my goofy 15 year old brain farted it out.
To celebrate this anniversary, it is CONTEST TIME! I was going to host this contest during TS's ACTUAL anniversary year, but stuff kept happening in my life and I was never able to finish thing

I am not all that active on my other socials but if you wanna see certain things right away, try my Twitter or Tumblr, depending. FA sometimes posts things before here, but otherwise anything of worth DOES end up here! If you choose Tumblr, just be aware of my constant talk of birb men. Um. That happens on Twitter too. That happens everywhere now. That's my life. That is how I've devolved.

Patreon, of course, always has comic goodies first! I am a bit behind on Misc content, but it will be provided this month, no worries. Thanks to all my patrons past and present for being a support system, y'all great and I love you
