Characters in a Meme, Hurray!

A meme to keep things active around here! I'm trying to consciously post as often as I can and it's been crazy difficult. How did I do it back in the day? Did I have no life? Well. Yeah. Pretty much.

         

Anyway, before the meme, a quick update. Things are weird around here. I feel like I have everything to do while simultaneously free time? But then I don't have free time because I need to work? It's so weird. My Advanced Storyboarding class is fairly simple: we have an assignment and then we finish the assignment, then we move onto the next. But my Self-Publishing class is like... 5 assignments simultaneously. They all overlap and it's jarring to keep track of. I need to work on Unit 3 but also Unit 5 but Unit 5 comes before Unit 4? And I think there's a Unit 6 but I don't remember? What.

Editor's Day is also coming up and I've been toiling over what to print and what to fix for print and oh boy it's a headache. And also the stress of "omg portfolio reviews are they gonna think my art is garbage? Yeah probably." So excuse my absence in things like The Selection for awhile. Once things make some semblance of organization I'll continue onward. For now I feel strangely guilty working on personal projects because (I think?) I need to work on homework. Uh. It's weird. This is a very weird quarter.

1. Your Fursona/Persona!
Your character that represents you!


Filly of course! I'm linking a lot of things cause idk I can't pick dawg.




Though I also want to include Picard since he has a lot of traits very similar to me, and I consider him my fursona within the furry community a little bit more for reasons.





2. Your 'Guardian Angel'
You protect yourself through them, vent through them etc, they keep you strong.
You probably have a deep emotional connection with this character.



Picard 100%! He means a lot to me and I've found venting through him has been very beneficial over the years, or drawing him doing stupid crap has helped my cope with things.
Linda is a close second, her old version anyway. She meant the world to me and I used her all the time to express myself. But I don't want to link any pictures of that version of her here.



 

3. Your Sunshine!
A character that never fails to make you smile. Maybe they have bright colors.
or maybe they are very cute. A character who's your own personal sun.




Definitely Spirit! They are too sweet and innocent for this world (and the second picture is conveniently titled!)
Also linking a lot cause the world needs more sweet.

4. The Odd One
The odd ball character you're not sure why you have, but you treasure them deeply. Perhaps because they're just so weird?




Probably Mynnie! He was made one day because I wanted to draw a skeleton monster. Then he became a thing.




5. Sentimental Value
Okay, now who has the most sentimental value? Maybe a character you received from a friend, or who you have fond memories of. Perhaps they're very old?




Nelthilta for sure! She's not my oldest character, but she had such a complex development and went through dozens of phases. She started as a self-insert fan character for Invader Zim, was written into a fanfic, then became my secondary sona for awhile... then she got her own original story that has since been reworked countless times. She was the origin of Ambivians and without her story The Selection wouldn't exist. So I owe a lot to this particular sparkle alien!




6. The fancy one!
Your flashiest character! Probably the prettiest one or the one with the most fancy design.




OKAY WELL I could easily put Kailani or Garin in for "fancy" designs because of their complexity... but Linda is 100% the prettiest in my opinion, despite being the simplest!




7. The rare one!
'The rarity' How about a character you're so surprised you actually managed to get.
You probably won't be letting go of them anytime soon!




I guess this is more relevant to adoptables so I'll include Jones! He was a a custom species done for me by louizim of their awesome species!

8. Weird Attachment



Maybe Hurvy? I have a complex relationship with his character. I love him conceptually, I love his dynamic between my sona and him in their storyverse, and I love his backstory. But his personality is extremely bland and it's been challenging to rework him over the years. I think about him often and how he works, but at the end of the day he's just kind of a boring guy. But I am attached to him and refuse to let him go or fall into development oblivion, even if all that work goes on exclusively in my head.





9. The Fandom character

He started as an Invader Zim FC and he didn't really stray far off from the sparkle mess that he was. But now he's all mine and I can say "Yeah, I own that sparkle mess completely."
